Bench at the Duck Pond

I was out and about early today. I found this bench (and many others)

at the Duck Pond on the Virginia Tech Campus.

Lots of benches in one yard!

First, I saw these when walking the new route to see my friend, Myrl.

Then, a few steps further, they had more benches on the patio. I think they must love benches too!

Bench across street in neighbor's yard

I almost missed it because it was so long and next to the driveway.

I have been trying for two days to load another bench but it wouldn't laod so here is this oen.

A bench note of importance

This bench HERE is definitely a unique bench. RuneE linked us to it and I didn't want to lose it. I have never seen such a bench before and I probably never will. Thanks RuneE!

Gorgeous bench!!!!!

In order to see this one, please CLICK on it to see the detail. It is the most beautiful bench I ever saw! I saw it walking on the way to the care facility that my friend, Myrl, has been placed in now. The walk was about 2 and half miles off bus route but I enjoyed it as it was snowing lightly and I saw so many pretty things.

You have seen this bench in the dark and snow covered. Now it's time to see its beauty. Look at that beautiful wood and the square knobs on top of the side arms! This is the one that sits in the little area of grass next to the street and facing the house!

I bet this is a gorgeous bench -- if only we could see it better!

Student school flip up bench

I remember using this kind of seat in school. They were neat because the seat flipped back. I am sure this is an antique.

Beautiful cream colored wooden bench

Looks like a beautifully made wooden bench that is well cared for. This is just one of the benches I found in a recent walk not far from my neighborhood. I live on 24th and I went up to 34th on the bus, got off and walked three blocks west on each block until I arrived back home. I found many benches! Thus, you will get to see them all over the next couple of weeks plus. (I don't know when I will put the benches on I found a couple weeks ago -- so many lovely bench finds! I am most fortunate.

2 Memorial Benches at Mortuary

These ornate benches sit on the porch entrance of a local mortuary. I walk past there all the time to get to a bus stop BUT I have never gone up on the porch before. Usually, I walk on the side of the building. I got brave/stupid and went up on the porch and took both shots and left quickly. They were in two different areas on the porch.

They are identical but because of the sunlight, they show up differently in color. Both have little memorial plaques on them.

Another of Rune's benches in Norway

Rune had a couple of benches on his blog awhile ago that I had missed somehow. He reminded me of them. It was probably when I had trouble with posting and didn't get to everybody back then. Anyway, if you follow this clickable link, you will enjoy benches on each side of a statue.

Bench facing Mt. Hood on peninsula on Columbia River

On my walk today along the Columbia River, I walked from Wintler Park to Marine Park. Along the way, this small peninsula juts out into the river and this bench faces east where you have a wonderful view of Mt. Hood in Oregon on a clear day which it was!

Stained glass bench . . .

Before Christmas, I went to a craft fair at the senior center. One lady had this gorgeous bench for sale. Of course, I had my camera with me and here it is! No, I did not buy it. . .

Along the Columbia River

There's a little platform to watch the river goings on from that is so cute! Not only does it include a raised platform but a bench to go with it! The builders co-ordinated the wood to match the platform wood. It is so inviting to go and sit there during any season even if nothing is happening on the river. Of course, after it has rained, you need to wipe the bench down a bit before sitting and in winter, when it snows, leave the sitting to the birds so the snow is undisturbed! Ü

Metal chairs

These beautiful chairs are curved like some benches and I like their style so have decided to include them here also. I like the flower patern at the top especially.

Tiny bench at wall

This bench used to be a part of the transit center downtown. Now that Turtle Place is going in there, it has been removed.

Bench at church

I went to a funeral right after Christmas and this bench was in front of the church. In fact, they had one on each side of the front door.

Twin wooden benches at mall

A new store came into the lower level of the Mall and they have a couple benches outside.

Seeing double . . .

When I saw these two benches, I got brave again and actually went up the steps of this business. Both have special ironwork. . . both are UNIQUE in their own way. Never saw a bench with purple slats before and the other one has that simple but ornate slat look for the back of the bench. AND look at the feet of those benches!!!!!!!! I think I got a neat one today!

Entrance benches

I am getting bolder. I walk around downtown and look into buildings thru their big picture windows. If I see a bench in the lobby, I go into the entrance, photograph the bench(s) and leave. Ü Mission accomplished! I found these two green benches inside such a business downtown -- one on each side of the entrance.

Tall metal bench

I found this bench in the back yard of an assisted living apartment building in downtown. I have never seen such a tall bench ever! It doesn't look very comfortable -- maybe they have cushions to add in nice weather? At least, they have a bench!
