Benches in uptown Vancouver

Went for a walk in the rain yesterday with friend and saw these in downtown Vancouver at a new shop that opened recently. Since it was rining, I was very careful not to get my camera wet. Ü

My smallest bench was acquired Friday . . .

This is mama and papa bear who took their three young uns to see the nurse for a variety of problems. They sit patiently on the bench waiting while the nurse tells parents how to proceed. . .

These figurines are about an inch and a half tall. . . isn't the bench darling?

That makes the bench about a half inch tall and an inch long!!!!!!! My smallest bench. . . so far! The back of the bench has a phone number to call if you are injured. :o)

Mermaid Cove benches

This colorful side of a building got my attention, especially when I spied benches near it. . .
I think this town likes this style of benches as they had one at the VFW building that I recently posted also.

Just two benches at the entrance to see the mural. . . in Port Orchard downtown.

Walking around in downtown Port Orchard, I discovered this little nook called Mermaid Cove and its accompanying benches. Almost seemed like I was in a different world. . .

School bus shelter bench in Port Orchard

I was walking down Salmonberry Creek Road for my first walk in son and family's town when I spied this bench on the corner. Kids were running down the steep hill behind it to catch the bus which was waiting for them. Nice bench to wait for the bus if you get there before the bus does.

VFW Memorial Bench in Port Orchard

Right outside their meeting place, the Veterans of Foreign Wars have a neat bench to rest for a spell. This is in downtown Port Orchard.

Bench in ladies room at Port Orchard playground

I was taking photos of the many benches at the playground "on the water." I investigated the restroom as it was handy and lo and behold, A BENCH! I guess it is great when changing into/out of a swim suit in warmer weather. . .

Another Port Orchard bench

Another bench I found during my walk dowtown. . . It was January but they still had the Christmas decorations up.

Bench made from old door

This little bench was in an antique shop in Port Orchard. It is made from a door. I don't know the history behind the door. . . Kinda intriguing that they would do this with an old door but looks like no one really cared about it. Poor little bench.

Geometric bench in Port Orchard

This is another bench I found in downtown Port Orchard when I visited in January. I like the geometric design on the back of the bench but it is especially interesting against the stripes metal on the building.

In front of Movie Theater in Port Orchard. . .

Narrow bench but useful while waiting for the ticket booth to open! (No, I did not go see this movie.)

Crazy about the "sea" benches!!!!!!!

Son and oldest grandson took me by foot ferry to the other side of the Kitsap Peninsula, otherwise known as the town of Bremerton. They wanted to show me the benches there. . .

These beautiful benches were all along one street on the way to the Naval Museum. They were two benches hooked together.Son says they light up at night! Aren't they a clever idea for a bench in a maritime town? If I return to Bremerton, I will take better photos of them -- my camera was acting up and I could not get great photos. Somethign to look forward to one day . . .

Since I decided to put them all in one post, I won't be posting more benches until later in the week. I have many more bench photos from my birthday trip to post!

Beautifully designed bench in Port Orchard downtown

Just look at that back design!
And how about those special arms and it even reflects partially in the background window.

Bench with shadow in Port Orchard

I spotted the shadow of this bench first.

Then, I was able to take a photo without the shadow from another angle. Isn't it a beautiful piece of ironwork? It looks like one of those rocker benches. CLICK to enlarge.

Near the boat ramp is a pier with a bench!

Going on my first walk in Port Orchard, I saw a sign that said "BOAT RAMP" so I figured it would lead me to water which I love so I followed the long, winding roads and signs that showed me the way. Along the way, I found many benches which I have to post yet. Be patient! Ü This was the last one I found on that walk. Heading home, I got to enjoy all of the ones I had taken of other benches already that day. And that was just the first day! Yes, people in Port Orchard like their benches! That made me very happy!

Another Beautiful Bench in Port Orchard

Don't you just love the delicate ironwork on the back, legs and tiny arms of this bench? It is just one of the variety of benches I found in Port Orchard. More coming!

Port Orchard bench near docks

This bench is definitely sturdy. I have no idea why it was made to section off ends but maybe to prevent homeless from sleeping on it?

Tacoma Train Station benches

My daughter in law saw me get off the train but I went inside anyway to look for benches. I lucked out!

Benches in back of church that son and family attend

DIL told me they have some different benches at their church so we made a trip over there to capture them when they weren't being used. Nice arrangement and I am sure these benches will last a long time. CLICK on to enlarge and see the myriad of colorful pebbles used.

Simple bench in the countryside in Port Orchard

Found this bench on one of my walks. Nothing special about it EXCEPT where it is located. . . ahhhhhhh serenity!

Phone bench on dock . . .

If you get tired of watching the fog, you can make a phone call while sitting on this well placed bench! If several people need to use the phone, they won't get tired standing waiting! Did you notice that the bench only has front legs and the bench is actually connected to the railing for support? Since this is my first time seeing this , I don't know if the tide is in because of winter or if the water usually comes this close to the shore.

Bench on the shores of Kitsap Penninsula in Port Orchard

This bench has a beautiful view of the water and Bremerton on the shores across the Kitsap Peninsula. One can even see birds landing on a log floating in the river. CLICK to enlarge if you can't see the birds. The bench is simple but perfect for the shoreline.

Long narrow bench . . .

Found this long bench in front of a bakery in downtown Port Orchard.
