Retirement Home benches by Vancouver Mall

Family of benches. . .

Except for one bench, it was hard to get a good shot but I think they mostly are all the same style. They were all on one family's patio.

"Angles" Bench

Do you see 4 V's or do you see two V's and one X? Or maybe you see 2 X's?????? Click on to enlarge and see for yourself how easy it is to see something than you originally did! ALSO, notice the beautiful ironwork between these shapes and the ends of the bench! I find this bench most beautiful!

Another bus stop bench

Recently, I had to attend a meeting at a place that was unfamiliar to me but in a big housing unit. I "got lost" several times before locating it but the best part of getting lost is that I discovered many "new" benches! This one, a private citizen chained to the post at a bus stop that did nto have a shelter. Pretty thoughtful, huh? It looks a lot like one I posted before from a private home. . .

Neighborhood Park Bench in Autumn

I saw these two benches in a little park in a subdivision and of course, I had to take a photo!
This is a close up of one.
Although a tad blurry, this shows the leg design on the bench.

This must have been a wonderful bench once upon a time . . .

Interesting slat shades for this bench . . .

The front of this bench makes it look old but it is because of the painting which has different slats, different shades of color. I especially like the way the slats curve up the back and there is no break between the back slats and the seating portion. I have no idea now where I found this bench in Vancouver on one of my walks.

Bench by auto licensing place

Nice, big soft bench outside the auto licensing place. No, I wasn't going there -- I never learned how to drive! It was in the same huge building as the Voter's Registration place and I did not get my ballot to vote by mail so I went by there to pick one up. Just never know where you will find a bench. Someone commented on my other blog that I probably take my camera everywhere I go. YES!!!!!!

Bench outside Hough Swimming Pool

I finally went over to get the schedule of free swim at Hough Pool and was greeted by this bench as I entered the door. I can hardly wait to go try put the pool. It is connected to the school and the students get swimming lessons at certain times during the year. The rest of the time it is open to the general public, including evenings. It will be just like me to go swimming on our first snwo day this winter. lol

National Reserve Picnic table benches

Next to the Park store operated by the Rangers, there is a covered picnic shelter with many picnic benches inside . . . and out near a playground.

Planter bench at National Reserve

We have a national Park in the middle of our town! Well, closer to the river than the middle of town but, here anyway! The ranger station is a nice building with displays that are historical AND a store to buy souviners. Outside is this planter bench, now quite dead since it is almost winter. The bench is a welcome sight when one is wery of walking all around the reserve and the Fort Vancouver replica before stopping here for postcards and other souviners.

Benches trying hard :o( to hide from me. . .

I spotted two benches beyond this fence but one can't see them very well, hiding behind clothes and the other, with a board in front of it. BUT, I have a "bench" eye and never miss the opportunity to take a photo. Recently, I was in a different branch of the Post Office and spotted a bench but I was helped right away with my stamps and when I left the mail worker, I mentioned I collect bench photos and was going to take a photo of the bench where the line is with no one standing or sitting there. He had the "nerve" to tell me that I had to go "ask the Postmaster General for permission and his office was right through the door." I declined to waste my time on such a silly permission. Geeze!

Different kind of bench seat

I have walked past this 4-plex many times on the other side and never noticed this bench. I find it has an unusual seating area. Looks like it was made of spare parts but it is certainly nice for a rest if you need one or a place to people watch! Enlarge the one without leaves to see the unique patterns on the seat.

Bench #2 at Hough School

Isn't this a lovely memorial bench? It's just inside the volunteers' entrance opposite the one you saw that looked so soft.

Spider web rocker bench

I love the design of this bench that is also a rocing chair for two! It may be worn but I think it is loved. Here, it was decorated with Halloween decor as was the entire yard.

Bench #1 at Hough School

I went to the Elementary school to volunteer and was greeted with several lovely benches. This one is cushioned with no back.

"Pioneer Courthouse Square" benches #5

This is a simple flat bench but beautiful too! I am sure a tired shopper or someone waiting for a shopper friend doesn't mind that it doesn't have a back or arms on it. Just some place to get off their tired shopping feet! The sun comes from a skylight on the 4th floor.

Yes, I see the different kind of bench in the background but those were featured in another post.

There was a tiny park with a playground and lots of these old benches filled with Mommies watching their children play.

Saw this one at the last minute just before I caught MAX home after my fruitful day in Portland finding benches.

For an added bonus today. . . go HERE to see a most unique bench from a Mount Rainier camping buddy.
